Traveling with a BABY

Traveling with a baby by yourself is definitely a challenge. From carrying EVERYTHING to entertaining a baby on a airplane to going pee is a struggle. Let me tell you, the struggle is REAL.

This was my first trip traveling from South Texas to Hawaii by myself. The first flight (Corpus Christi to Dallas) was good. Gideon was happy, really happy. Picking my nose, putting his hands in my mouth, pulling my eyelashes and slapping me happy. (pictures above)

My second flight was not so good. I had the middle seat which was FANTASTIC with a baby. The lady next to me kept falling asleep and hitting me with her arm. I decided to get up, walk around and change Gideon’s diaper. We went to the restroom and he about freaked out when I put him on the changing table. Which by the way is a really pathetic changing table. It’s hard, really hard to put a baby on and SUPER unstable. Did I mention my child was screaming the whole time? YAY!

My third flight was great… when we finally got on it. My original flight was scheduled for 6:30pm and we didn't get on the plane until 9:45pm. My sweet baby boy was so tired and slept the whole way there.

So what do I recommend for traveling across the world?

-ERGO ERGO ERGO! Seriously, what do people do without these? I was able to be hands free and Gideon was strapped to me. He also would fall asleep easier when he was close to me.

-Stroller for walking around the airport & checked it at the gate. I am so happy that I decided to NOT check it with my suitcase. This was such a back saver after we got off of the airplane.

-ONGUARD Essential Oil. Airplanes and airports are known for GERMS. GROSS! I applied onguard to the bottom of our feet every hour. I had several onguard beadlets & I also made a onguard spray and sprayed EVERYTHING that we came in contact with. No sick baby & momma here!

-PastTense Essential Oil - Tension blend. I applied PastTense several times during our trip to help with the tension of traveling and rude people. I love this blend!! PastTense®, dōTERRA®'s proprietary blend for tension and the discomforts associated with headaches, provides calming comfort with the strength of CPTG® essential oils of wintergreen, lavender, peppermint, frankincense, cilantro, marjoram, roman chamomile, basil, and rosemary. Packaged for convenient application in a roll-on bottle. For aromatic and topical use. -Car seat bag- MUST have. I bought ours from Amazon and I LOVE it. It has straps on it so you can carry it on your back.

-Comfy clothes

-Extra outfit for your child (Mine spilt juice & food on his)

-Snacks Snacks Snacks! When my child would get fussy I would bribe him with snacks! ;) #momwin

(When choosing snacks-think snacks that will take a lot of time to eat. Juice pouches are great but they go pretty quick. Crackers, kale chips and puffs are a better choice!)

It was truly comical doing this by myself. We had A LOT of laughing moments and a few I am going to have a break down moments. I am super thankful for kind people who helped us when they could. I encourage you to help out a mom in the airport who looks like she might be having a difficult time. From helping her carry luggage to offering to get water, etc. It means more than you know. I learned A LOT and I am definitely more prepared for our next trip across the world! Mommy can experience paradise even at the airport. Take a deep breath, learn to laugh when things do not work out and treat yourself to a drink!
