FEARLESS

There are so many things to be scared of in this world. Being a mom I have fears of people hurting my child, SIDS, pedophiles, etc. Being a military wife I have fears of being alone, fears of discrimination, fears of my husband being killed and fears of ISIS hurting my family. With that said, this mommy declares that she will NOT live in fear!

In no way am I saying to live carelessly and I do not think that I am immune to those things happening but I refuse to live in fear. I refuse to let the enemy win and rule over my life.

So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

I will post pictures of my child on Instagram and Facebook so my family and friends can see him grow. I will talk about my faith without fear of someone discriminating against me. I will talk about my husband’s career because it affects every aspect of our life & I am a proud military wife.

However set limitations on posting pictures of your child. Do not post naked pictures of your child. Do not post the date and time your husband leaves for deployments for his safety and the safety of the other Marines.

Is it possible for some sicko to steal pictures of your child from your Instagram or Facebook account? Yes, absolutely. BUT if someone really wants to get pictures of your child they will. Regardless of if they are on social media. When you are walking around your city, running errands and going to the beach I guarantee you there are pedophiles walking around you. People can take a picture on their phones of you and your child quicker than you can turn around.

Lately, everyone has been intimidated by ISIS and their pathetic threats to our country, our military and their families. They are going on social media and targeting people with profile pictures including military uniforms. Again, probably a good idea to not set your profile picture with your husband or wife in uniform but if ISIS really wants to come to your house and kill you they will regardless of your profile picture. We have DOD stickers on our cars and they could point us out of a parking lot so fast. If they can hack into government computers I can guarantee you they can hack into our computers and find out personal information.

Listen, if you do not want to post pictures of your children because you just do not want people to see them or you want to be more of a private person, that’s fine. Go for it! It is your child and your decision. No judgement here. However, there is a huge difference between that and not posting because you are scared of what will happen.

Can I also add that I am totally guilty of this? Sometimes I think twice about posting pictures of my husband in uniform on Facebook and Instagram. I get scared about my family being a target. I do not want to live in fear of that any longer. I will share my life and my husband’s career with our friends on social media. I will NOT change my name in fear that ISIS will find me and come to my house and kill my family. Maybe I can encourage someone out there going through the same thing.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Being a mommy in paradise is not where you live but rather a state of mind. When you are in paradise you feel happy and free. Letting others control your life does not give you the ability to feel happy and free. Being a mommy in paradise means not living in fear. So I encourage you to not live in fear. When we live in fear we are letting the other person win. Live fearless!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
